Sandra Buckingham

Born and educated in the UK, Sandra has worked in the fitness industry for over 30 years in many capacities.  Following a strong foundation in her home country leading Dance, Stretch & General Fitness classes, she travelled extensively with her business, teaching Aqua Aerobics & Land Aerobics in Kenya, Africa, Dance & Fitness Instruction in New York and Fitness Center Management in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
 
Arriving in San Diego in 1989, Sandra built a successful Massage Therapy and Personal Training business, The Fitness Source.  Evolving into continued exploration of Yoga and Pilates due to injuries received whilst training for Triathlons, Sandra determined that this combination was a better recipe for life-long all around health and fitness.  Sandra has made a continued commitment to learn and share the benefits of being strong, flexible and energetic and find creative ways to make exercise fun and fruitful.

Sandra is the former owner & operator of  The Fitness Source and spokesperson and founder for The Fitness Trainers Assn. Both are based in San Diego, California.

Vinyasa Flow, Slow Flow, Gentle Flow and Chair Yoga are all  types of Hatha Yoga.

HATHA YOGA is the most well-known form of yoga incorporating many styles.  It focuses on physical health  and
mental well-being. The practice of HATHA YOGA involves a series of poses designed to strengthen, stretch, balance and energize the body. 
VINYASA FLOW emphasizes breath with movement and is dynamic and invigorating.  Some experience is recommended for this class.  
SLOW FLOW may be more suitable for most students  and
GENTLE FLOW is sensitive to those who may have joint stiffness, blood pressure issues or other health challenges.     
CHAIR YOGA  has the additional benefit of a chair for support  for students with balance & coordination issues.
All styles follow principles of good posture & alignment and modifications will be offered in all classes to support each student's unique abilities.
